UC Davis Library
For students and researchers alike, the library is the academic heart of UC Davis. It is home to world-class digital and physical collections, a place to collaborate and connect, and a hub for cutting-edge data science and virtual reality technology.
The library’s vast collections document the university’s rich history, showcase its defining strengths, and celebrate the achievements of faculty and alumni — from UC Davis-led innovations in plug-in hybrid electric vehicle technology to celebrity chef Martin Yan’s elevation of Asian food and culture.
Transformative gifts from donors, like the $3.3 million commitment from the Winiarski Family Foundation, have helped us build the “world’s greatest wine library.” With wine books in more than 50 languages, papers and rare manuscripts dating back as far as 1287, and a growing collection on wine writers, the library offers unparalleled access to information about the rich history of winemaking in California and beyond — and it is building a collection on organic food and farming to match.
Philanthropic support for students, like the Norma J. Lang Prize for Undergraduate Information Research and the Library Student Innovation Fund, are preparing tomorrow’s leaders to thrive in future careers by offering internships, experiential learning, and student research awards. And through the library’s DataLab, donors are creating opportunities for students in all majors to gain the data literacy and technical skills they need to succeed in college and careers in today’s data-driven world.
