Graduate scholars are solving tomorrow’s problems, today

Graduate students are amplifying UC Davis’s impact around the world through greater discoveries that forge paths for a better tomorrow. In our libraries, laboratories, and lecture halls, these brilliant scholars play a critical role in conducting novel research that keeps UC Davis on the cutting edge — and donors help make this work possible.

In 2021, we celebrated the reopening of historic Walker Hall, now home to the University of California’s first Graduate Center. Situated in the heart of campus next to the UC Davis Library, the center features several donor-funded spaces for scholars to connect with one another and engage in interdisciplinary work in an inclusive and equitable environment.

Fellowships and endowed scholarships like the Tara K. Telford Graduate Student Award, which seeks to find a cure for cystic fibrosis, or the Russell J. and Dorothy S. Bilinski Educational Foundation Fellowship, which supports 20 students a year across the humanities and sciences, show precisely how important philanthropy is in giving every student access to a world-class education.

UC Davis graduate students are the next generation of policymakers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and leaders, and at UC Davis, they are learning to solve global challenges while creating a more just environment for all.
