Global Affairs

Donors partnered with Global Affairs to provide the UC Davis community with global learning opportunities that change the world, from research to help solve world challenges to preparing future leaders and change-makers.

Inspiring global curiosity, understanding, and engagement are essential to Global Affairs’ mission to prepare students for an interconnected world. Scholarships, grants, and stipends funded by donors supported robust courses, experiential learning, and international experiences to immerse every student in a global education that is accessible anywhere.

For example, a $1 million endowment by Mary Puma and Eivind Lange III ’77 is supporting study abroad and engagement experiences in Italy for students and faculty. Inspired by their lifelong love of the country, their gift—which includes an additional $50,000 for immediate use—helps fund scholarships for students to study abroad and seed grants for faculty to conduct innovative research.

Additionally, new student grant programs were launched, including one to support summer social impact initiatives and another to support graduate student summer research and creative work that addresses a global challenge. We have also reimagined global living and learning spaces—like virtual classrooms, residential living-learning communities, and technology-driven creative spaces—providing students with spaces beyond the classroom where they can interact, collaborate, and learn from each other.

Thanks to philanthropy, UC Davis can offer even more global opportunities that are affordable, inclusive, and relevant to students and communities.
